Gabby Holko Chosen Whoopdirt.com Division III Coach of the Week

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna University women's basketball head coach Gabby Holko was chosen as WHoopDirt.com's NCAA Division III Coach of the Week after the River Hawks' extraordinary three-win stretch in four days, including a two-game sweep in Puerto Rico, between Dec. 16-19.

Coach Holko's squad went 3-0 this past week to run their win streak to six and improve to 10-1 on the season – their best start since the 1982-83 campaign. Susquehanna, which received votes in both the most recent WBCA and D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, began its week with a 67-51 victory over Eastern on Tuesday. Following the win, the River Hawks made the trip down to Bayamon for the Puerto Rico Clasico on Thursday and Friday. In their opening contest in PR, Susquehanna held Union to just one made three-pointer in a 63-44 victory. Returning to the floor the following day, the River Hawks utilized a last-second layup to fend off a late comeback attempt by Montclair State and come away with a 63-61 triumph. The win moved Susquehanna to 10-1 on the season, with each of their other nine victories coming by double-digits.

Her senior class is close to several career milestones as forwards Carly George and Julia Roth both surpassed 500 career rebounds, with fellow senior Julia Pinckert close to the same milestone as well. Roth reached the rebound milestone this week against Montclair State, while earning a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. George, now with 524 career boards, is close to cracking the top ten all-time at Susquehanna.

In a crowded Landmark Conference, Susquehanna ranks second with 71.6 points per game and 43.3 field goal percentage (295-681). The River Hawks lead the Landmark with a 33.0 three point field goal percentage (62-188). They lead the Landmark at 45.0 rebounds per game, with Julia Roth leading the conference at 9.7 boards per game. Other notable wins included non-conference foes Gettysburg, Muhlenberg, while riding a 3-1 record in the Landmark after league wins over Juniata, Wilkes, and Moravian.
