WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Susquehanna University women's track and field team spent their final meet before hosting next weekend's Landmark Championships at King's College of Pa.'s Monarch Open. The team still had plenty of surprises in store in an eventful spring, led by senior
Sarah Bower gaining a new school record in the pole vault, clearing 3.35m outside. The height not only gives her an AARTFC-qualifying mark, but officially grants her record-holding rights at SU in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault.
Sophomore,
Victoria Urbaez started off the afternoon with a PR of 4:57.10 in the 1500-meter in second place. Sophomore
Sophia Bostwick ran 5:01.90 in third place, while sophomore
EmmaLia Ciccarello ran 5:17.72 in seventh place. In the 100 meters, senior
Kelly Loughlin placed third with 13.83.
Senior
Liza Levin finished first during the 800 meters with a time of 2:23.29. Urbaez was right behind her with a second-place time of 2:24.92. Sophomore
Gabby Howe ran in fifth place with a PR of 2:29.21. Bostwick, with a 2:41.23, finished in eighth place. First-year
Sydney Querry ran a PR of 2:44.11 In the 200 meters, senior
Addison Yaukey ran 27.59 in fifth place.
In the shot put circle, sophomore
Keira Carbone threw 10.70 meters in fifth place. Junior
Paulina Biagioni threw a PR of 10.48 meters in sixth place. Senior
Chelsea Veith threw 6.22 meters. Veith also threw 21.50 meters in the discus. In the hammer throw, Carbone placed sixth with a distance of 36.91 meters. Junior
Paulina Biagioni threw 32.58 meters in tenth place, while Veith threw 22.09 meters.
As aforementioned the River Hawks are set to host the Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships from Saturday, May 3 to Sunday, May 4 at Doug Arthur Stadium.
