Women Lock in PR's at Ursinus Springfest

COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The Susquehanna women's track and field had a strong showing at this weekend's Ursinus College Springfest. The River Hawks made it count with several boasting new personal bests, highlighted by first-year Alyssa Varias earning a bid for AARTFC regionals with a new PR in the 100-meter hurdles. 

HOW IT WENT DOWN
  • First-year sprinter and hurdling phenom Alyssa Varias locked in an AARTFC-qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles with a 15.50 prelim time. She finished fourth overall in the finals at 16.25m. Varias also ran the 200, coming in at 29.18. 
  • Kendall Simms continued her great work in the pole vault. After setting a new program record of 3.55m two weeks ago, she got close to that mark Saturday at 3.50m. She opened at 3.35m, clearing it on her first try, then used her third attempt to clear 3.50m. 
  • Megan McDougall led the River Hawks in the 100-meter dash, completing a time of 13.42. She also set a PR of 28.41 in the 200 meters. 
  • Nakayah Tyler took on the 100 and 200 meters also, finishing with respective times of 13.64 and 28.12. 
  • Kai Mozeleski was the third runner in this category, running 14.34 in the 100 and a new PR of 29.96 in the 200. 
  • Senior Ashley Newman led the team in the 200 meters at 27.16. She also ran a time of 1:03.52 in the 400. 
  • Riley Schlosser took her mid-distance talents to the 800 and 1500, running 2:38.26 in the eight and setting a new PR of 5:11.75 in the latter. 
  • Katie Wojton set new personal bests running the 200 at 29.27 and the 100-meter hurdles at 23.13. 
  • Junior Keira Carbone set two new PR's in the discus and hammer throw with respective marks of 30.26m and 38.33m. She also threw the shot put, throwing 10.73m. 
  • Abigail Haskell threw 9.96m in the shot put and 23.64m in the discus. 
  • Senior Rebecca Cree enjoyed her day throwing 8.87m in the shot put and 29.80m in the discus.
  • Catherine Sirignano released her discus throw as far as 27.07m, then the hammer at 34.94m. 
UP NEXT FOR THE RIVER HAWKS
  • A handful of multi competitors will take to their own facility for the Susquehanna Multis Thursday and Friday.
  • Futhermore, a handful of River Hawks will head up the road for Bucknell's Bison Invitational Saturday and Sunday.
