Box Score SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna women's tennis wrapped up their season on Saturday against a formidable Scranton squad that swiftly earned a 7-0 victory. Even though the score suggested a decisive win, Susquehanna's Mackenzie Romig, kept the score close in her singles match.
The closest doubles match was at one doubles, with the team of Alexa Wanamaker and Mackenzie Romig posting two games against the Royals' Daniella Wisniewski and Erin O'Mara in a 6-2 decision. The remaining doubles setups saw a 6-0 Scranton win at two and 6-1 at three doubles. Scranton kept it up with straight set wins between one and four singles, though Romig nearly disrupted this at two singles when her first game against Wisniewski went 12 games and her Scranton counterpart edging out a 7-5 win in the opener. She followed this with a more conclusive 6-0 decision to take the match. Alexa Wanamaker was defeated by matching 6-2 scores at one singles to Mayjah Jean-Pierre, as did Katherine Yoder against Erin O'Mara at three singles.
Despite the defeat and a 5-9 overall ledger and 2-7 conference record to finish the season, the River Hawks saw tremendous growth in a primarily-young squad that featured notable first-year talent. With every River Hawks set to return next year, the future appears bright and productive.
