BETHLEHEM, PA - Susquehanna men's tennis returns to the Landmark Conference Tournament for the first time since 2022 as they head to Moravian Tuesday for a matinee opening-round match at 4 p.m. The River Hawks earned the fifth seed, not bad considering they were picked seventh in the Landmark Preseason Poll. The winner will play top-seeded Goucher on Thursday.
The River Hawks received a boost this season thanks to some newcomers who held down the top spots and managed key victories towards a 9-5 overall record and 4-5 conference record. The team started the year at 5-0, while three of their Landmark defeats were decided by one point in 4-3 decisions against Catholic, Drew and Scranton. Their Landmark wins included Elizabethtown, Lycoming, Wilkes, and Juniata. They were beaten by Moravian earlier this spring, 6-1.
First-years
Logan Rauschenberger and
Tyler Hester were welcomed additions to the team, quickly becoming the program's top doubles team with an 8-5 overall record. Rauschenberger was a two-time Landmark Athlete of the Week as well as SU's one singles player, boasting an 11-3 mark in the top spot and 6-3 in the Landmark. Hester settled in at four singles, going 7-5 there in a 9-5 rookie campaign where he also earned two wins at three singles.
Sophomore
Owen Miller has had a fantastic season, going 11-3 overall and primarily the team's number three singles player. He went 10-2 in that position. Miller and fellow sophomore
Daniel Murphy served as the two doubles team for Susquehanna that carved out a 6-5 record.
Nathan Bassett, another first year carried out a 10-3 record between a 6-3 mark at five singles and going 2-0 in both his tries at the four and six singles spots.
