MEN'S TENNIS - Susquehanna men's tennis battled close in both their season-opening matches this weekend, beginning Satruday with the Royals of the University of Scranton, ultimately falling short by a 4-3 score in the Landmark showdown. Sunday's non-conference matchup against Lebanon Valley presented a thrilling comeback win for the River Hawks, overcoming a sweep by the Dutchmen in the doubles to post four singles victories in a 4-3 victory.

How it Happened (Doubles Matches)- Scranton: 

• Logan Rauschenberger and Tyler Hester dropped the one doubles match, 6-4. 

• Austin Imhoof and Nathan Bassett were unable to mount a comeback in the second doubles game of the season, dropping the match 6-4. 

• Daniel Murphy and Owen Miller won the first match of the year for the River Hawks, sweeping Royals Alexander Kolakowski and Benjamin Blum, 6-0. 

How it Happened (Singles Matches)- Scranton: 

• Rauschenberger dropped the first two sets in the opening singles match, being defeated 2-0. 

• The #2 singles featured Owen Miller, winning set one, 7-6. Miller dropped set two 3-5, before defeating Ethan Borick of Scranton in set three, 7-0. 

• Austin Imhoof lost the #3 singles match, 3-6, 5-7. 

• Tyler Hester was defeated by Harrison Clark in two sets, 0-6, 4-6. 

• Nathan Bassett defeated Scranton's Nathan Harrison in two straight sets to win the #5 singles match, 6-1, 6-2. 

• Daniel Murphy won the #6 singles match Saturday, taking a 2-0 victory over Benjamin Blum, 6-1, 6-1. 

How it Happened (Doubles Matches)- Lebanon Valley: 

• The Dutchmen defeated the River Hawks in the opening match, 1-6. 

• The #2 doubles match saw the fate, with the home team being defeated, 2-6. 

• SU dropped the #3 doubles match in a close fight, coming up just short, 6-7. 

How it Happened (Singles Matches)-Lebanon Valley: 

• Logan Rauschenberger earned the first win of the afternoon for SU, defeating Zach Schrader, 6-2, 6-4. 

• Owen Miller tallied a win for the home team, defeating Jesse Beck, 6-3, 6-4. 

• Austin Imhoof lost a close battle in the #3 singles, 7-6, 6-3, 6-3.
