Despite the three-year gap many River Hawks are making the return trip, including seventh-year head coach
Gabby Holko and seniors
Carly George,
Lauren Klein,
Julia Pinckert, and
Julia Roth. Since their last visit Susquehanna has been on an historic run, finishing fourth in the Landmark Conference standings with 12-6 league marks the last two seasons. Their 18 wins in 2023-24 marked the most since 1994-95, as well as combining for five All-Landmark selections the last two years. Incoming senior
Julia Pinckert has been a back-to-back All-Landmark Honorable Mention at guard, while fellow senior Roth was tabbed First Team All-Landmark at forward in 2023-24 and George a Second Team Forward selection in 2024-25. Holko, who has led the River Hawks since 2019, owns a 70-57 career record through five competitive seasons.
"I'm beyond excited to play at The Palestra this season with our Susquehanna Women's Basketball team!" exclaimed head coach
Gabby Holko. "Known as the
'Cathedral of College Basketball,' The Palestra is a historic venue, and it's an incredible opportunity for our girls to experience that magic. We're also thrilled to have so many amazing families, alumni, and recruits in the Philly area that we can't wait to see them in the stands! Huge thanks to the Landmark Conference for making this happen again for our program!"
Known as the "Cathedral of College Basketball," The Palestra opened its doors in 1927, making it the oldest major college arena still in use today. It has hosted more games, more visiting teams, and more NCAA tournaments than any other facility of its kind. It is currently home to the Philadelphia Big 5 Championship. The participating programs will have the opportunity to play in a memorable location that has seen great players like Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Oscar Roberson, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James, all of whom played as members of visiting teams.
