Swimming Wrangles Three Fourth-Place Finishes on Third Day of Landmarks

BALTIMORE, MD - Susquehanna men's and women's swimming and diving rounded out the third day of the Landmark Championships. The men's team continues to hold steady in fourth place (221.5 points) with the women's team sitting in fourth place (254 points). The River Hawks earned three fourth-place finishes Saturday as they pursue their climb up the leaderboard going into the fourth and final day Sunday. 

How it Happened:
  • The 400 yard IM preliminaries started the day out for the River Hawks, with Tim Wetmore qualifying for the finals with the eighth-fastest time of 4:20.10. He went on to place eighth in the finals with an improved time of 4:19.65. 
  • Erika Guche took ninth place in the 400 yard IM, showcasing a speedy time of 4:56.32.
  • Dan Venuti competed in the 100 yard butterfly, making the finals with a prelim time of 52.58 for the seventh-fastest time in the prelims. Venuti finished it off with a 52.11 finals time for seventh overall. 
  • Maddie Lebkicker took 12th place in the women's 100 yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:04.26. 
  • David Gentile and Keegan Pence took on the 200 yard freestyle, with Gentile taking 11th place and Pence taking 13th place. Gentile posted a time of 1:50.04 with Pence showing a time of 1:51.07.
  • Emma Church earned 10th place in the women's 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.82. Cameron Alvino took 12th in the same event with a time of 2:03.28.
  • The 100 yard breaststroke saw Akira Black claim 13th place with a time of 1:02.10.
  • Jillie Donner made the finals for the 100 yard breaststroke thanks to a 1:10.68 qualifying time, then earning a 1:10.37 finals time for sixth overall. 
  • Kaden TenEyck earned the team's highest individual placement Saturday with his fourth-place finals time of 52.68 in the 100 yard backstroke after qualifying with a time of 53.50. 
  • Cameron Alvino finished in 13th place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.28.
  • Kaden TenEyck, Doug Bell, Dan Venuti, and Eskander Bierman claimed fourth place in the 200 yard freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:25.95.
  • Emma Church, Payton Kenney, Jillie Donner, and Tessa Cronin earned fourth place in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:41.26.
Up Next for the River Hawks:
  • Susquehanna aims to finish the Landmark Conference Championships with a top finish on February 15. Heading into the final day of the season the River Hawks are currently sitting in fourth place on both sides. The men's team currently holds 221.5 points with the women's team sitting with 254 points.
  • The women were ranked third in the Pre-Championship Poll, while the men were fourth.
