Men Hold Down Fort Hosting Friday Night Showdown

SELINSGROVE, PA - After a grueling two weeks carving out top marks in Upstate New York, the Susquehanna men's track and field team enjoyed returning home for its Friday Night Showdown. The evening meet pitted the River Hawks with some of the finest programs in neighboring regions, as well as attracting some NCAA Division II talent in Lock Haven and Shippensburg. As per usual, Susquehanna rose to the occassion with more great marks to keep their strong season going. 

ON THE TRACK  IN THE FIELD
  • Charles Montross continued his great work in the long jump when his third attempt landed him at 6.44m, good for fourth. Gabe LaGrossa finished sixth with his third try getting him 6.34m, while Kyle Landry jumped 5.81m thanks to his first attempt. 
  • First-year and new SU throwing personality Kieran Hennessy led the team with a fifth-place finish in the weight throw at 14.33m. Fellow newcomer Cooper Bottorf turned in an eighth-place finish at 13.53m, doing so on his first release. 
  • In the shot put first-year Carter Reed led the SU group with a 12.01 throw, while Hennessy threw for 11.95m. Fellow Rookie Luke Westlake completed a 11.73 throw as all of his three attempts cleared 11 meters. Cooper Bottorf also reached the 11-meter mark, topping out at 11.10m. 
  • First-year Hayden Durst led the River Hawks in the pole vault in sixth at 3.90m, his opening height. Thomas Sitt took seventh at 3.60m, while Maxwell Friedman also reached 3.60m. 
  • Kyle Landry hit 12.23m in the triple jump for fourth place, while LaGrossa was sixth at 12.02m. 
UP NEXT FOR THE RIVER HAWKS
  • Susquehanna is split next weekend, with a handful of River Hawks heading up to Nazareth University for its Division III Elite Meet between Feb. 13-14, while that Saturday the 14th the team plays host to the Valentine Invite.
