SELINSGROVE, PA - The Susquehanna University women's track and field team finished sixth while hosting the Landmark Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday in Estill Field House. The major highlight of the day was first-year
Kendall Simms, who parlayed her record-breaking season in the pole vault by winning big in the event with a new school record of 3.61 meters.
The River Hawks posted 47 points, with Scranton winning the league championship with 181 points and Moravian second with 142 points. Catholic was third with 111 points.
TOP FINISHES
- Kendall Simms, Pole Vault - Entered the championship holding the current school record of 3.55m after breaking it four times over this winter.
- Bella Dauberman, Weight Throw - Earned bronze in the weight throw with her PR throw of 14.73m on her fourth try. Keira Carbone joined her on the podium in seventh at 13.31m.
- Alyssa Varias, 60 Hurdles - Qualified for the finals with a prelim time of 9.68, a new personal best. She finished seventh overall in the finals at 9.73.
- Sophia Bostwick, Mile & 3K - Placed sixth in the mile with a PR time of 5:20.49. Also took the podium in the 3,000 meters in eighth place at 10:51.23.
- Alison Sponseller, 5K - Earned a podium spot with an eighth-place finish time of 19:55.62. Sydney Querry took ninth right behind her at 20:09.33.
- Distance Medley Relay - The team of Julianna Sobocinski, Calder Clark, Gabby Howe and Riley Schlosser placed fourth at 13:33.13.
- 4x200 Team - The group of Nakayah Tyler, Ashley Newman, Denicia German and Megan McDougall took fifth with a season best time of 1:51.43.
- Charlotte Houle, High Jump - Took fourth with her height of 1.52m, which she reached on her second try.
- Shot Put - The trio of Bella Dauberman (11.27m), Keira Carbone (10.85m), and Abigail Haskell (10.79m) earned sixth, seventh and eighth place.
