NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Susquehanna University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams received mention to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All Mid-Atlantic Region Teams for their outstanding work across eight events. That's as many Landmark Conference individual champions the River Hawks had this spring as the men finished second at the conference championship and the women fifth.
The top-eight individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Athletic.net Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-eight relay teams. The Susquehanna men totaled six Landmark individual championships on their way to a second-place finish, while the women earned a pair of Landmark victories to take fifth. At the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships (AARTFC) the River Hawks secured a trio of third-place finishes via the men's 4x100 (
Austin Hurrell,
Owen Nugent,
Mason Winslow and
Dominic Santos),
Carter Smink in the 110-meter hurdles, and
Kendall Simms in the pole vault.
At the Landmark Championships distance runner
Derick Blair won gold in the 10,000 meters with a new championship meet record of 30:49.41. When it came to the school record books the women's side made some alterations as
Sophia Bostwick secured a new 10K standard at 37:12.41 set at Bucknell's Bison Outdoor Classic, while
Kendall Simms kept raising the bar in the pole vault, topping out at 3.78m (12' 4.75") in her third-place finish at AARTFCs.
