Men Open Spring at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, PA - Susquehanna's men's track and field team got their outdoor season started Saturday at Lebanon Valley College's Home Mini Meet. Comprised of a handful of teams in the region, the River Hawks made the most of their first outdoor opportunities. 

HOW IT WENT DOWN
  • First-year runner Nate Frankenfield led the team in both the 100 meters and 200 meters. He finished fourth overall with a time of 22.91, then eighth in the 100 at 11.29. 
  • In the 400 Ryan Sullivan was the fifth-fastest finisher at 52.61. First-year Liam Messina took seventh at 53.59. 
  • Hunter Valentino took fourth in the 1500 meters with a new PR time of 4:28.53. 
  • The 4x400 team of Angelo FaccioloJack ComptonAndrew Hilke, and Asa Alderman won with a time of 3:38.22. The second 4x4 team of Owen Trump, Josh Malone, Brady Kearns and Tommy Hover took second at 3:46.78. 
  • In the high jump Charles Montross earned third at 1.72m, clearing it on his first try. 
  • Gabe LaGrossa took third in the long jump with a PR of 6.50m, reaching it on his sixth and final attempt. He also took on the 100, setting another personal best at 11.96. 
  • Kieran Hennessy made his outdoor career debut in the shot put, leading the team with a throw of 12.30m for sixth place. Fellow first-years Luke Westlake and Carter Reed took on the shot put as Westlake threw for 11.69m and Reed 11.07m. 
  • Over in the discus Cooper Bottorf, another first-year, led the team at 40.91m for third place. Westlake threw 39.08m for seventh and Hennessy 38.94m for eighth. 
  • Hennessy made one last appearance in the hammer throw, posting another team best with his 42.00m throw to finish seventh. Reed threw 37.86m for ninth place. 
  • Jace Hershey competed in the javelin, setting an AARTFC qualifying mark with his throw of 55.18m to place third overall. Jonathan Hughes also earned an AARTFC qualifier in the javelin at 54.60m to finish fourth. 
UP NEXT FOR THE RIVER HAWKS
  • Susquehanna is set to turn out this Saturday hosting the annual Jim Taylor Duals. A portion of the throwing events will commence on Friday, Mar. 27, while the bulk of the meet will take place Saturday as the River Hawks are set to celebrate Senior Day.
