NEW YORK CITY, NY - The extraordinary record-shattering pole vault season by first-year
Kendall Simms met a pivotal milestone during this weekend's All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships at the New York Armory.
After winning the Landmark Conference title last weekend with a new school record at 3.61 meters, Simms once again raised the bar to a dangerously new height, clearing 3.82m on her second try after opening at 3.27m. She already had a new record in hand after making the 3.72m bar on her third attempt, but getting over 3.82m puts her in NCAA national championship contention, currently holding the 21st-best mark in the nation as of Saturday. Meanwhile on the track
Sophia Bostwick competed in the 5,000 meters, setting a new season best finishing ninth at 18:02.78.
The River Hawks now await official word from the NCAA on their selections for the NCAA Division III Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
