Men Continue Busy Spring at Moravian's Coach P Invite

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna's men's track and field team kept up their blistering pace Friday and Saturday at Moravian University's Coach P Invitational. While PR's and regional qualifiers were widespread, the River Hawks polished off some Landmark-leading marks with two weeks to go until the conference championships at Juniata. 

ON THE TRACK
  • Dominic Santos ran a 10.78 time in the 100-meter prelims to make the finals, where he ran 10.85 for sixth place. Both times are AARTFC qualifiers. Owen Nugent also booked a regional-qualifying time of 10.88 in the event, a new PR for the first-year. 
  • Nugent went on to set another PR in the 200 meters at 22.09 for seventh place. Mason Winslow ran 22.23 for ninth, with three more River Hawks running sub-23 times in Nate Frankenfield (22.31), Austin Hurrell (22.41), and Jordan Donahay (22.95). 
  • Winslow ran a season-best time of 48.91 in the 400 meters for seventh in the event. This time is the second-fastest in the Landmark this season. 
  • Evander Lackman ran sub-two minutes in the 800 meters at 1:59.92, then kept up his great day with a new PR in the 1500 at 4:08.11. 
  • Hunter Valentino ran a new PR in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:45.28 for sixth place. This gives him the 10th-fastest time in the Landmark. 
  • Carter Smink and Calder El Bachir Diakite once again offered a one-two punch in the 110 hurdles. Smink ran 14.45, just .03 shy of his personal best, while Diakite took 14.65. 
  • Nikolai Lulewich led the team with an eighth-place finish in the 400 hurdles at 56.52, while Justin Weychert ran 1:01.68. 
  • The 3,000 steeplechase saw Andrew Hilkes deliver a time of 10:43.16 and Joseph LaBarbera 11:53.40. 
  • One week after their heroic triumph at Bucknell, the 4x100 team of Owen NugentDominic SantosMason Winslow, and Austin Hurrell came close to their Landmark-best time last week of 41.52 with a 41.56 time on Saturday, good for second. 
  • The 4x400 squad of Aidan DiglioNikolai LulewichDominic Santos, and Ryan Sullivan ran 3:25.80 for ninth place. The second group of Liam MessinaAndrew HilkeBrady Kearns, and Josh Malone ran 3:40.58. 

IN THE FIELD
  • Senior thrower Cole Goodwin made it another busy, yet productive Saturday throwing for 14.84m in the shot put to lead Susquehanna and place fourth. He also threw 41.56m in the discus and 40.12m in the hammer. 
  • Cooper Bottorf led the team with a 43.62m throw in the discus, a new personal best. He also set a new PR in the shot put at 12.18m, while throwing 38.07m in the hammer. 
  • Carter Reed had the team's best throw in the hammer at 40.27m, doing so on his first throw. He also threw 11.89m in the shot put.
  • First-year Jonathan Hughes threw 44.12m in the javelin for a new career best for the first-year. 
  • Charles Montross reached 1.73m in the high jump.
  • In the long jump Austin Hurrell reached 6.68m to lead the team and place sixth overall. 
  • Hayden Durst and Seth Taub enjoyed a team-leading performance Saturday in the pole vault, both reaching 4.15m. Durst got the edge thanks to clearing his on his first try. Taub cleared it with his second try. 

UP NEXT FOR THE RIVER HAWKS
  • Susquehanna makes a pre-Landmark Championship visit to Juniata's weekend meet set for Saturday, April 25. 
  • Juniata will be the host site of the Landmark Conference championships, set to run Saturday, May 2 to Sunday, May 3.
