Women Turn It On at Moravian's Coach P Invitational

BETHLEHEM, PA - Like the weather, Susquehanna's women's track and field team continued to turn the heat up at their annual trip to Moravian University's Coach P Invitational. With two weeks to go until the Landmark Championships, everyone did their part to improve their marks. One school record was also had, once again from Kendall Simms who raised the outdoor program record to 3.65m in the pole vault. 

ON THE TRACK
  • First-year hurdler Alyssa Varias reached the 100-meter finals thanks to her qualifying time of 15.72. She ran a 15.90 time in the finals to secure fifth place. She took on the 400-meter hurdles as well, earning a new personal best of 1:14.62. 
  • Both Nakayah Tyler and Megan McDougall set new PR's in the 100 meters, with Tyler leading the team at 13.08 and McDougall 13.19. Senior Ashley Newman was right in between them with a tine of 13.12. Denicia German ran 13.43, while Kai Mozeleski ran 14.33. 
  • McDougall set another PR in the 200 meters at 27.96, while Newman placed 11th at 26.83.
  • Three career bests were also seen in the 800 meters as Calder Clark ran a new high of 2:33.02, Aubrie Berwager 2:40.88, and Hope Schafer 2:45.95. Ahead of them were Gabby Howe posting a team-best 2:30.13, while Katie Wojton was right behind her with a time of 2:30.71. 
  • Sydney Querry posted a team-best in the 1500 meters with a new personal-best time of 5:18.56. Julianna Sobocinski ran 5:23.45, while Ayla Kerwan ran 5:27.49. 
  • In the 5,000 meters Riley Schlosser kept the PR train rolling as she led the team with a time of 20:02.35. Jessica Askins ran 20:09.81, while Kylie Dixon finished at 20:23.50 and Griane Reed 20:56.76. 
  • The 4x100 team of Megan McDougallAshley NewmanNakayah Tyler, and Alyssa Varias took in a time of 51.69. 
  • Sophia Bostwick followed up her record-setting performance in the 10,000 meters at Bucknell last week with a new venture in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She finished first with a time of 11:50.38. 
IN THE FIELD
  • Kendall Simms once again raised the bar for the pole vault school record, going up to 3.65m after entering the event at 3.35m, clearing that and the 3.50m bar on her first tries. She secured the 3.65m mark on her second attempt to finish third. 
  • Brooke Charnosky and Ainslee Binkley each threw for AARTFC qualifiers in the javelin, with Charnosky finishing fourth at 36.58m and Binkley fifth at 35.53m. Charnosky came within .36m of her career best from the Jim Taylor Duals back in March.
  • Keira Carbone earned the meet's top mark in the discus, throwing for a new personal best 33.15m on her fifth attempt. She also set a new PR in the shot put at 11.32m for ninth, while Bella Dauberman threw 11.13m for tenth. 
  • Charlotte Houle entered the high jump at 1.43m, clearing that and the 1.48m bar on her second tries. 
  • Annie Gehman matched her career best in the triple jump at 9.70m thanks to her third attempt. 
  • Rebecca Cree set a new PR in the discus with a mark of 33.85m. 
  • Catherine Sirignano finished 12th in the hammer throw with a team-leading 40.78m off of her first attempt. 
UP NEXT FOR THE RIVER HAWKS
  • Susquehanna makes a pre-Landmark Championship visit to Juniata's weekend meet set for Saturday, April 25. 
  • Juniata will be the host site of the Landmark Conference championships, set to run Saturday, May 2 to Sunday, May 3.
