Women Tune Up at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, PA - Members of the Susquehanna University women's track and field team made the trip to Juniata College Saturday for its last-chance meet, which served as a dual capactity for the River Hawks to polish their times and preview the venue for this weekend's Landmark Conference Championships. 

ON THE TRACK
  • Sylas Sova and Kai Mozeleski ran in the 100 meters, each qualifying for finals with respective times of 13.99 and 14.77. Sova finished fourth at 14.54 and Mozeleski 15.16. 
  • Sova and Mozeleski also took on the 200 meters with Alyssa Varias. Varias took second with a time of 29.00, while Sova took sixth at 30.49 and Mozeleski 30.73. 
  • Varias also run the 100-meter hurdles, earning the meet's fastest time at 16.10. 
  • Gabby Howe won the 400 meters with a career-best 1:04.93.
  • Six River Hawks ran the 800 meters, led by Riley Schlosser who took a time of 2:31.93. Calder Clark was sixth at 2:33.52, Howe 2:33.91, Alison Sponseller eighth at 2:38.11, Aubrie Berwager ninth at 2:40.75 and Hope Schafer 12th at 2:48.44.
  • Sydney Querry ran the 1500 meters, taking fourth at 5:16.95. Katie Wojton earned sixth at 5:22.57 and Griane Reed seventh at 5:34.04. 
  • Jess Askins and Kylie Dixon ran the 5,000 meters to take second and third, respectively. Askins ran 20:31.89 and Dixon 20:42.24.

IN THE FIELD
  • The women had one win in the throws as Danilee Phillips recorded the longest hammer throw of the day at 37.54m. 
  • Catherine Sirignano took second in the discus at 30.70m. 
  • Rebecca Cree led the team in the shot put, finishing fourth at 9.67m. Cree also took third in the hammer at 33.36m. 
  • Emma Szabo placed second in the hammer at 37.44m and 11th in the discus at 25.98m.
  • Bella Dauberman led the team in the javelin, finishing fifth at 27.12m. She also took ninth in the discus at 27.08m. 
  • Paulina Biagioni pulled a trifecta in the throws, taking sixth in the shot put at 8.82m, fifth in the discus at 28.83m, and eighth in the hammer at 29.92m. 
  • Ava Ross finished seventh in the discus at 27.42m and seventh in the hammer at 32.02m. 
  • Annie Gehman competed in the triple and long jump, taking fourth in each. She jumped 9.64 in the triple, along with 4.36m in the long.

UP NEXT FOR THE RIVER HAWKS
  • For these River Hawks, Saturday's meet served as a course preview as the team returns to Juniata this weekend for the Landmark Conference Championships, running Saturday, May 2 to Sunday, May 3.
