SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University women's soccer junior midfielder Amelia Kopp was named the Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week following a standout opening weekend for the River Hawks.
Kopp played a key role in a pair of Susquehanna victories, helping the River Hawks open the 2026 season with a perfect 2-0 record.
In Friday's 4-0 victory over Pitt-Greensburg, Kopp recorded an assist on Nicole Freiler's goal in the 17th minute, delivering the corner kick that led to Freiler's tally. Susquehanna dominated the match, outshooting the Bobcats 21-3 while earning nine corner kicks.
Kopp then provided the decisive moment in Saturday night's matchup with Waynesburg. With the River Hawks trailing 1-0 late in the second half, Kopp completed the comeback by scoring in the 87th minute off an assist from Ava Billmeyer to give Susquehanna a 2-1 victory. The win capped a two-goal second half for the River Hawks, who outshot Waynesburg 20-8.
Kopp finished the opening weekend with one goal, one assist and three points, contributing to both of Susquehanna's victories. The junior midfielder is in her third season with the River Hawks and is listed as a Business Management major on the 2026 roster.
Susquehanna returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 9, hosting Penn State Harrisburg at 5 p.m. at Sassafras Field.
