The Susquehanna University Women's Track & Field team was in action today at the All-Atlantic Regional Championship, a meet that brings together some of the best student-athletes from the Atlantic and Mideast regions.
Less than 48 hours after smashing the school record in the 200-meter dash at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet,
Sara Arbogast shattered another school record, this time in the triple jump. Her leap of 11.86 meters (38'11'') earned her a runner-up finish and skyrocketed her from 70th to 11th in the national rankings. While the official qualifiers for the NCAA Division III National Championships won't be announced for a few days, a triple jump of 11.86 meters has always resulted in qualification since 2001.
In the pole vault,
Ryleigh Edmonds came into the meet ranked 19th, but finished 17th with a jump of 3.08m (10'1.25''). She wraps up a sensational sophomore season that saw her break the indoor school record in the pole vault and sweep that event at the indoor and outdoor Landmark Championships.
The River Hawks will be back in action tomorrow for Day 2 of this Championship meet. Arbogast will contest the long jump, 200-meter dash, and 4x800-meter relay.Â
Megan Emlet will join her in the long jump. The the other members of the 4x800 relay are
Kate Ross,
Marissa Kleman, and
Alexa Pietrini, with
Jillian Michales serving as the alternate.
