LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Susquehanna University women's indoor track & field team
competed at a high-caliber meet Friday night at the Bucknell University Tune-Up. The River Hawks were one of only two Division III schools in the eight-team field comprised primarily of Division I (Bucknell, Lafayette College, Lehigh University) and Division II (Bloomsburg University, Mansfield University, and Shippensburg University) institutions.
Susquehanna buckled down for tough competition, notching
four personal records (PR) and four Top 20 finishes in the final meet before the 2020 Landmark Conference Championships being hosted by SU on Feb. 29 at the James W. Garrett Sports Complex Field House.
How It Happened
- Senior Samantha Reed (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) picked up an eighth-place finish in the 200m dash in 27.05 while first-year Sarah Urban (Victor, N.Y./Victor Central) notched a personal best with a time of 28.03 for 16th, which ranks 10th in the Landmark Conference.
- Junior Marissa Kleman (Locust Gap, Pa./Mount Carmel) ran a PR of 5:31.34 in the one-mile run, finishing 12th. Kleman's time ranks seventh in the Landmark.
- Sophomore Megan Emlet (Shippensburg, Pa./Big Spring) posted a mark of 4.73m in the long jump for 17th in her first indoor meet of the season. Her jump ranks 11th in the league.
- Senior Alexa Pietrini (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) led the River Hawks in the 800m run with a 22nd-place finish in 2:30.97 to rank seventh in the conference while Anastasia Farley (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk), a sophomore, set a PR of 2:34.50 for 25th. Farley's time is 18th in the Landmark.
- Meghan McDonald (Fogelsville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh), a first-year, smashed her personal record with a time of 2:37.77 for 26th in the 800m.
