SELINSGROVE, PA (April 15, 2022) -- The Susquehanna University women's track and field squad sent athletes to a pair of meets on Friday afternoon, as some competed up the road at the Bison Outdoor Classic while much of the squad competed at the Moravian University in Bethlehem, PA.
At Bucknell, junior
Kallan Carter posted a strong performance in the women's unseeded 1500 meter run, taking 10th of 94 runners while finishing as the second Division III runner in a time of 4:44.07. The time was the third-best time in program history in the 1500 meter run.
Senior
Kate Ross was 34th in the 1500 meter run as well, as she recorded a personal-best time of 4:50.97, the seventh-best time in program history. Both Carter and Ross's times were regional qualifying efforts.
Sophomore
Emma Myers posted a personal-best time by 14 seconds in the 1500 meters as well, taking 75th overall among a very strong field.
The rest of the squad traveled to Moravian University, posting a bevy of strong performances. First-year
Remi Acord was stellar in both the long and triple jumps, finishing second in the triple jump with a regional-qualifying mark of 11.55 meters. The mark was third-best in program history. Acord also took sixth in the long jump with another AARTFC qualifying effort, logging a 5.25 meter jump.
Sophomore
Delaynee McLeod posted a regional-qualifying mark of 34.13 meters in the javelin throw, ninth-best ever at SU for seventh place Friday. The 4x100 meter relay consisting of
Kelly Loughlin,
Alayna Krempa,
Addison Yaukey and
Alexa Rine took fifth overall with a time of 49.93, a regional-qualifying effort.
The 4x400 meter relay of
Avery Francis,
Liza Levin, Rine and
Anastasia Farley was second overall after running a 4:18.45.
In other action, the 100 meter dash saw
Alexa Rine post a time of 12.59 meters to qualify for finals, though it was wind-aided. In the finals, Rine ran a 12.78 to take seventh overall. In the 400 meter run, Farley posted a personal-best time of 1:03.35 to take 10th place, and
Caitlyn Kuhn was right behind her with a PR of 1:03.77 for 11th place.
The 100 meter hurdles saw
Alayna Krempa post a personal-best time of 17.53 meters for 12th place, while also running a new PR in the 400 meter hurdles of 1:13.70.
Julia Acevedo also chalked up a new lifetime best in the 400 hurdles, running a 1:13.28 for 11th place.
In the high jump, senior
Fiona Blake took home ninth place with a height of 1.35 meters. In the hammer throw, Abby Sholders was 11th overall with a throw of 39.63 meters on her final throw, while fellow senior
Jenna Juntunen was 15th after tossing the hammer 39.13 meters.
First-year Samantha Shafer was 12th in javelin with a new personal-best throw of 30.27 meters, while senior
Megan Emlet also threw a new PR in the javelin with a 30.04 meter throw.
