PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Hurdler
Chloe Yoder ran her first-ever sub-14 time in the 100-meter hurdle preliminaries Friday to clinch a spot in Saturday afternoon's finals with her time of 13.86. Her remarkable finish stood as the second-best time in the first heat and sixth-fastest overall to punch her ticket towards her first career national finals appearance, set for Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
With a wind metric of 2.3, Yoder's previous best was a wind-aided 14.05, set earlier this year at SU's Easter Multi, while turning in a non-wind-aided time of 14.09 at Moravian's Coach P Invitational. During indoor season she made the national championship in the 60-meter hurdles, turning in a preliminary time of 8.80.
Yoder enters Saturday's finals with the sixth-fastest preliminary time, joining the likes of Gustavus Adolphus' Birgen Nelson, who posted the only faster time than Yoder's in the first heat at 13.47, along with fellow heat leaders Kelsie Sealock from Bethel (13.84) and Coast Guard's Michelle Kwafo 13.62. Wisconsin La Crosse's Emma Lawrence holds the fourth-fastest prelim time at 13.75 in heat three, while Lynchburg's Aniya Seward ran a 13.85 in heat two for the fifth-fastest.
