PITTSFORD, N.Y. - Hurdler
Chloe Yoder capped off her championship spring season in stride Saturday, coming within .02 seconds of her personal best from yesterday's 100-meter hurdle preliminaries for a 13.88 time in the finals, giving her fifth place to finish above her seed and achieve All-American status.
Prior to this weekend, Yoder had yet to break 14 seconds in the 100H despite close calls this season at 14.05 and 14.09, with the prior serving as the best D3 time at the time of the meet. On Friday evening, she defied expectations with a 13.86, giving her the sixth-best preliminary time to book her spot in the finals. Of the seeds above her, she passed fifth-seed Aniya Seward from Lynchburg, who finished sixth with a time of 13.85.Â
The Shamokin native adds NCAA Division III All-American to her trophy case after securing the Landmark Championship in late April in the 100 hurdles with a meet-record 14.25, along with the conference crown in the 400-meter hurdles at a PR 1:05.48. Her national times Friday and Saturday were both wind-aided, giving her an opportunity next season to use another sub-14 time to claim the school record.
