SELINSGROVE, PA - The River Hawks women's swim team swam their way through a Landmark bout against Goucher and Moravian, hosting the Gophers and Greyhounds in Garrett Natatorium, picking up a slew of victories to entertain their home crowd.
The River Hawks started out to a fast start as they claimed the top two spots in the first event, the 200-yard medley relay. Ashley Derrick, Payton Kenney, Madison Milheim, and Megan Iannacone claimed the first-place spot with a time of 1:58.45. Following very closely behind with a time of 2:02.65 were fellow River Hawks Cameron Alvino, Mackenzie Moran, Maddie Lebkicker, and Hannah Nash. Catherine Sirignano claimed first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:58.65.
The women's dominance continued as they claimed the top two spots in the 200-yard freestyle. Matilda Klinetob claimed first place with a time of 2:09.23, followed by Megan Iannacone with a time of 2:14.42. The 50-yard freestyle was no different for Susquehanna as they claimed three of top four spots in the event. First place belonged to Ashley Derrick, who finished the event with a time of 25.70. Catie C Lovett of Moravian University just edged out River Hawk Cameron Alvino with a time of 26.36 compared to Alvino's time of 26.43. Rounding up the top four was Hailey Oosterwyk with a time of 27.56.
The 200-yard IM fared just as successful as the other events for Susuquehanna as they claimed first-place in this event too. With a time of 2:25.38, Mackenzie Moran claimed first place for the River Hawks. The River Hawks claimed both spots in the women 1 mtr diving event. Hannah Nash beat out fellow River Hawk Valerie Stoltz with a score of 130.70, compared to Stoltz's score of 116.45. The 13th event saw two River Hawks claim first and second place. Madison Milheim claimed first place in the event with a time of 1:07.41. Catherine Sirignano claimed second place with a time of 1:07.82.
The dominance continued for the River Hawks as they claimed three of the top four spots in the 100-yard freestyle. Cameron Alvino claimed gold in the event with a time of 57.69. Isabella Westerfield claimed third place, falling out of second place by less than one second, with a time of 58.85, compared to Moravian's Catie C Lovett's time of 58.07. Rounding out the top four was Kate Wolford with a time of 1:00.60. The 100-yard backstroke saw three River Hawks claim the top three spots of the event. Derrick Ashley finished first with a time of 1:03.00, followed by Hannah Nash with a time of 1:10.08. Coming in third plae was Maddie Lebkicker with a time of 1:12.93.
Susquehanna claimed first place in the 500-yard freestyle. Matilda Klinetob finished the event with a time of 5:35.41. The 100-yard breaststroke saw three River Hawks claim three of the top four spots. First place belonged to Mackenzie Moran as she swam her way to a time of 1:12.76. Payton Kenney claimed third place with a time of 1:15.68, falling just short of Goucher College's Ella Robinson's time of 1:14.97. Claiming the fourth spot was Isabella Westerfield with a time of 1:16.86. The final event for the women saw Susquehanna claim the top two spots. Claiming the first-place spot in the 200-yard freestyle relay was Isabella Westerfield, Payton Kenney, Catherine Sirignano, and Hailey Oosterwyk with an outstanding time of 1:50.39. Second place was claimed by Matilda Klinetob, Madison Milheim, Kate Wolford, and Maddie Lebkicker with a time of 1:53.25.
The River Hawks hope to maintain their dominant performance as they return home next Saturday, January 18 to take on Landmark Conference foe, University of Scranton.
