Davis Conquers and Claims 200 Record in Team's Return Hosting River Hawk Invite

SELINSGROVE, PA – The Susquehanna men's track and field team were back in action after a restful winter break as hosts of the River Hawk Invitational. While many great marks were had, perhaps the highlight of the day was Elliott Davis setting a new school record in his specialty, the 200 meters with a time of 22.23, taking down the previous standard of 22.26 set by Matt Gass in 2017. Davis bested his previous best of 22.60, while standing with the ninth-fastest time in NCAA Division III as of Saturday.

Starting off the meet was the distance medley relay where senior Christian Calderaro, sophomore Ian Anderson, senior Josh Kimotho, and first year Aaron Kolosowsky compiled a time of 11:20.59. Sophomore Dominic Santos qualified for the 60-meter finals with a preliminary time of 7.05, then finishing with a 7.06 for fourth place. Senior Jackson Marby, meanwhile, ran 7.21 in tenth place. In the 400 meters, first-year Aidan Diglio races with a 51.84 in second place. Kolosowsky finishes in sixth place with a time of 2:04.17 in the 800 meter. Anderson in ninth runs a  2:04.89.

Alongside Davis in the 200-meter dominance was sophomore Mason Winslow in third with a time of 22.89. Junior Austin Hurrell ran ninth in the 200 at 23.39 and first-year Jordan Donahay right behind him at 23.43. In the 3000 meter run sophomore Ada Alderman staked second place at 9:19.10, while first year Thomas McGann ran a 9:35.15 in seventh. In the 4x400 relay the team consisting of Calderaro, sophomore Jack Compton, junior Justin Weychert and first year Aiden Diglio placed fourth with a collective time of 3:40.77. The fellow relay team of Anderson, sophomore Angelo Facciolo, Kimotho, and Kolosowsky ran 3:47.34 for 12th place.

Over in the long jump pit Hurrell took first place measuring 6.99 meters. Davis added to his day with a PR in the high at 1.82m for second place! During the triple jump senior and newcomer to the team Deatrick Moyer jumped 12.52 meters for fourth place. Sophomore pole vaulter Seth Taub cleared 4.09 meters, good for second place, while sophomore Lance Engel took sixth place at 3.55 meters.

The men's next meet will be next Friday and Saturday, January 24th and 25th, when they will travel to Rochester New York to compete at Nazareth University.
