SELINSGROVE, PA - The Susquehanna women's swimming and diving team celebrated the storied careers of three seniors in their final home meet of the season versus conference foe Scranton. Among the seniors celebrated at the event was Ashley Derrick, Megan Iannacone, and Madison Milheim for their great careers, and used the day to make some great time.
Susquehanna had a lot to brag about during the meet as the women took home a multitude of top three finishes. The 200 yard medley relay fared well for Susquehanna as they claimed second place with a finishing time of 1:58.45. Ashley Derrick, Mackenzie Moran, Madison Milheim, and Megan Iannacone combined for this finish for the River Hawks. Matilda Klinetob won third place for the River Hawks in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:21.86. The 200 yard freestyle saw Susquehanna win yet another third-place podium finish, as Cameron Alvino swam her way to a time of 2:08.14. Ashley Derrick and Catherine Sirignano combined for a first and second place finish respectively in the 100 yard backstroke, clocking in times of 1:02.32 and 1:06.11. Mackenzie Moran outpaced Royals Gianna Horen for a second place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke, pacing a time of 1:11.64, falling into second place by 0.02 seconds. The 200 yard butterfly event saw Susquehanna take third place, putting up an impressive time of 2:30.18 by Maddie Lebkicker.
The 50-yard freestyle was won by a Royal, but only by .01 as Cameron Alvino put up a time of 26.57 to place second, third place was taken by Isabella Westerfield, with a time of 26.82. Cameron Alvino continued her phenomenal day by claiming yet another second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle, with a time of 57.87. Third place was taken by Isabella Westerfield with a time of 58.07. Catherine Sirignano won the bronze placement in the 200 yard backstroke pacing a time of 2:24.06. The 200 yard breaststroke saw the River Hawks win gold, as Mackenzie Moran put up a time of 2:35.17. Matilda Klinetob continued her day with a time of 5:36.59 in the 500 yard freestyle, taking second place. Maddie Lebkicker put up a time of 1:07.90 in the 100 yard butterfly which was good enough for a third place finish. The 200 yard IM fared well for the River Hawks as they took another podium finish, as Catherine Sirignano took third place with a time of 2:27.73. The final event of the day, the 400 yard freestyle relay, saw Susquehanna claim their final second place finish of the meet.
The River Hawks are abroad the rest of the season, traveling next Saturday to Marywood for a non-conference meet, followed by Washington College of Md. on Saturday, Feb. 1 before getting ready for the Landmark Championships Feb. 13-16 from Baltimore, Md., hosted by Loyola College of Md.
