SELINSGROVE, PA - Winter break is over and the Susquehanna women's track and field team made it official returning to action Saturday hosting the River Hawk Invitational.
Starting with the distance medley realy, first-year
Sydney Querry, senior
Liza Levin and sophomores
Gabby Howe and
Katie Wojton collectively ran 14:25.1 in second place. In the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore
Denicia German qualified with a 10.17 preliminary mark, then placing third improving to 9.94 in the finals. Seniors
Hannah Alderfer and
Addison Yaukey each qualified in the 60 meters with a respective 8.23 and 8.38, then in the finals Alderfer ran 8.07 for first place, while Yaukey completed it in 8.35 in sixth place. First-year
Megan McDougall added to the list with a PR of 8.80. In the 800 meter Levin raced with a 2:28.43 in second place, while Howe and Wojton came in eighth and ninth with a respective 2:42.85 and 2:44.97.
In the 200 meters, junior
Ashley Newman ran in third place with 27.70. In seventh came Yaukey at 28.32, while McDougall ran more PR's at 30.27. During the 3000 meters Susquehanna swept the fifth to eighth spots, courtesy of seniors
Rebekah Jones at 11:44.96 and
Jordan Bender at 11:47.58. First-year
Julianna Sobocinski ran 11:52.16, while senior
Sophia Pasquariello finished off with 11:57.41. In tenth was first-year
Ava Warner, racing to a time of 12:01.73.
Saturday offered plenty of opportunities in the field events as well. In the high jump sophomore
Charlotte Houle took fifth place after clearing 1.48 meters. Alderfer broke tenth jumping to 1.43 meters. In the pole vault senior
Sarah Bower vaulted 3.05 meters, placing her in tenth, while sophomore
Alison Sponseller came in eighth place vaults 2.60 meters. Over in the weight throw sophomore
Bella Dauberman placed herself in second with her second throw landing at 13.79m. Sophomore
Abigail Haskell's second throw of 11.97 meters placed her tenth. Dauberman was the team's leading shot put thrower at 9.68m, good for 11th.
