ROCHESTER, NY – The women's indoor track and field team headed up to Nazareth University for their Conference Challenge Cup. In the first of two consecutive weekends at high-profile meets in Upstate New York, the River Hawks checked off many boxes with several PRs and national marks.
Senior hurdler
Chloe Yoder set a season best in the 60-meter hurdles, building her case for another All-American season running 8.90 in the prelims, then improving to a season-best 8.75 to take first in the finals for the second-fastest time in NCAA Division III this season. Jumper
Remi Acord, also looking for another All-American moniker, moved one step closer in the triple jump with a winning mark of 11.46m on her third try, winning by over two feet. Joining Acord in the jumping pit was fellow senior
Hannah Alderfer, who placed second in the long jump with a time of 5.41m. Sophomore
Alison Sponseller reached a new best in the pole vault, clearing 2.85 meters. Sophomore
Charlotte Houle reached 1.48m in the high jump, while thrower
Keira Carbone set a new PR in the weight throw at 11.50m.
The personal bests continued to come through on the track when sophomore
Sophia Bostwick ran the mile and set a new PR by 13 seconds with a time of 5:37.64. Behind her in the mile was another PR mark as
Ayla Kerwan clocked in at 6:15.58, while
Nicole Freiler, in her first collegiate meet, ran 1:05.73 in the 400 meters. Over in the 3,000 meters
EmmaLia Ciccarello set a new PR by 25 seconds with her new personal best of 11:53.12. Over in the 800
Liza Levin ran to a tenth-place mark at 2:25.66, just missing out by .2 seconds for top ten all-time. Sophomore
Gabby Howe finished right behind her with a PR of 2:37.81. while in the 200 meters
Denicia German posted a new personal best at 28.04. Topping off the track events was the 4x400 team of Howe, Levin,
Sydney Querry, and Kerwan ran 4:31.05 for 13th place.
Susquehanna's next test sees them return to New York State at Ithaca College's renowned Bomber Invitational, stretched out between Saturday, Feb. 1 and Sunday, Feb. 2.
