SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna field hockey burst out of the gate to score inside the opening 90 seconds before adding four more to beat Juniata 5-0 on Wednesday night, a win that represented the 99th for
Allison Fordyce as head coach at Susquehanna. It also gave the River Hawks a key 4-1 ledger in Landmark play entering the last four games of their conference season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Susquehanna won a penalty corner inside a minute, and kept the Eagles pinned back for Gracie Roush to dribble towards goal before feeding a pass to Taylor Rothermel in front of the cage, as Rothermel took a touch and slotted past the Juniata goalkeeper just 1:28 into the game.
- Emma Campitelli kept the pressure on for Susquehanna, as her shot led to another penalty corner with seconds remaining in the first quarter, and she blasted in the insert by Hannah Garlin to make it 2-0 as she made it six straight games with a goal.
- The second quarter also started and ended with a Susquehanna goal, as Alise Althouse teed up Kiara Koeller to add a third just two and a half minutes into the period from Garlin's corner.
- Juniata had their lone two shots of the night in the second quarter, with Kylie Schmidt making a save, before another shot from a corner moments later was off target.
- Haley Dreisbach added the fourth of the half with a goal from close range on Mady Quigley's assist with just two minutes to go as the River Hawks took a comfortable advantage into half-time.
- Campitelli was denied a second by the frame of the goal in the third quarter from a similar corner to the one she scored from in the first half, having again been the recipient of Garlin's insert.
- Garlin's first corner of the fourth quarter led to a fifth goal, with Jada Thompson receiving before passing off to Roush, who took a touch before hammering in her second strike of the campaign.
- Thompson nearly added another assist moments later on a line-breaking pass to Samara Campenni, whose shot missed narrowly wide.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Susquehanna took an early lead and never looked back, holding Juniata to just two shots while taking 15 of their own. They converted on five of their eight shots on target, while Schmidt made one save from one shot on target faced. The River Hawks also managed eight corners while allowing just a pair.
- Campitelli led the team with five shots, and alongside Dreisbach, two on target. Campitelli's goal marked six straight games with a goal and her ninth of the season, while Rothermel added her sixth of the year, Koeller notched a second, Dreisbach scored her fourth, and Roush made it a pair of both goals and assists on the year with one of each. Garlin contributed with her team-best fifth assist of 2025, with Quigley not far behind after adding her fourth. Althouse and Thompson both got their first career assists.
UP NEXT FOR SU
- SUFH heads to Moravian and Catholic in the next week, giving Fordyce a chance to become the second coach to reach 100 wins with the program as early as Saturday. The River Hawks round out the regular season with home games against Lycoming, which also is Senior Day, and Goucher.
- The River Hawks move to 8-7 on the season, with a 4-1 record in Landmark play, which puts them in second with four games to go.
