SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna field hockey used Senior Day Saturday to clinch a first-round bye for the Landmark Conference Tournament after using two fourth-quarter goals to defeat Lycoming, 3-1. The River Hawks clinch a first round bye for the fifth straight season, currently sitting with the number two seed as they wrap up their regular season hosting Goucher on Wednesday.
How it Happened:
- Susquehanna's defense stood tall through the first fifteen minutes of play, allowing zero shots through the first quarter.
- The River Hawk offense kept the pressure on the Warriors, being turned away each time. SU tallied 11 shots through the first frame, being turned away each time.
- Heading into the second quarter of play, the River Hawks kept the Warrior offense at bay once more, allowing zero shots once again. SU aimed six shots at Warriors goalkeeper Isabella Bobe, with each being pushed away from the cage.
- Late in the second quarter, the River Hawks earned a penalty corner opportunity, where Taylor Rothermel shot a ball over to Haley Dreisbach, who buried it behind Bobe. The River Hawks took a 1-0 lead into the break.
- Lycoming's Lacy Eckard etched her name into the score book, tallying the long Warriors shot during the contest, scoring the one goal for the visiting team.
- The score stayed knotted up until late in the fourth quarter when Mady Quigley drew a penalty stroke opportunity for the home team. Hannah Garlin volunteered to take the shot, scoring the second goal of the afternoon for SU.
- The River Hawks kept the pressure on, scoring their final insurance goal late in the fourth quarter. Emma Campitelli tallied her tenth goal of the season, becoming the only River Hawk during the 2025 campaign to do so.
- SU held on to win the contest 3-1, officially clinching a first round bye.
