Men Complete the Misericordia Cougar Splash Invite

DALLAS, PA- Men's swimming completes three day Misericordia University Cougar Splash Invite taking fifth place with a total of 222 points.

Session 1:

Keegan Pence started the scoring for the men, taking thirteenth place in the 500 yard freestyle, showcasing a time of 5:09.57.
Joey Wayne took eighteenth place, followed by Kenny Smith in nineteenth place.
The 200 yard IM saw Dan Venuti push for a top spot, taking fifth place among a total of 23 swimmers. Venuti finished the race with a time of 2:00.53.
Doug Bell finished in sixth place in the 50 yard freestyle race, showcasing a time of 22.07.
Eskander Bierman finished in tenth place in the 50 yard freestyle.
The final event of the first session, the 200 yard medley relay, saw Venuti, Black, Wetmore, and Bell pair up to take sixth place with a time of 1:39.68.
Heading into the second session of the meet, Susquehanna sits in fifth place with 46 points.

Session 2:

The second session of the three day meet opened up with 200 yard freestyle relay. The team consisting of Bell, Schweikert, Venuti, and Bierman claimed a sixth place finish with a time of 1:29.36.
Tim Wetmore earned a podium finish for Susquehanna in the 400 yard IM. Wetmore finished the race in second place with a time of 4:24.45.
The 100 yard butterfly saw Dan Venuti finish in fourth place with a time of 53.25. Doug Bell took tenth place in the same event with a time of 55.54.
Joey Wayne finished in fourteenth place in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.97.
Rounding out the second session of the meet was the 400 yard medley relay, where Venuti, Black, Wetmore, and Bierman finished the early portion of events in seventh place with a time of 3:43.18.
Following the second session, Susquehanna continued to sit in fifth place with a score of 121.

Session 3:

The 200 yard butterfly opened the third of four sessions, which saw Tim Wetmore take twelfth place with a time of 2:13.84.
Brandon Sutherland came in sixth place in the 100 yard backstroke, posting a time of 57.44.
Tenth place belonged to Akira Black in the 100 yard breaststroke, with Black showcasing a time of 1:03.42.
The third of four sessions completed with the 800 yard freestyle relay. Bell, Wetmore, Pence, and Wayne finished the event in sixth place with a time of 7:35.12.
Following the third session the River Hawks continued to sit in fifth place with 163 points.

Session 4:

Susquehanna started the final session of the meet with the 1650 yard freestyle race, which saw Kenny Smith place eleventh place with a time of 19:19.12.
Doug Bell finished in seventh place in the 100 yard freestyle, placing a time of 51.18.
The 200 yard backstroke saw Dan Venuti claim a top five finish for the River Hawks. Venuti finished the race in fourth place with a time of 1:59.92.
Tim Wetmore finished in fifth place in the 200 yard breaststroke, tallying a time of 2:16.82.
The final event was the 400 yard freestyle relay. Venuti, Wayne, Bierman, and Bell finished the event in sixth place with a time of 3:19.43.
Rounding out the fourth session, the River Hawks finished the meet in fifth place with a total score of 222 points.

Susquehanna takes a short break into the new year as the team heads out to the University of Scranton on January 17. The River Hawks final home meet of the season takes place on January 24 against Bloomsburg University.
