SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna field hockey preps for a rematch against Elizabethtown in Tuesday's Landmark Conference Tournament Semifinals, where the River Hawks defeated the Blue Jays earlier in the season from a late
Emma Campitelli goal as time expired. A win would put the River Hawks back in the Landmark Championship game for the third year in a row on Saturday in hopes of repeating as conference champs for the third straight time. On the other end of the bracket is top-seed Scranton facing off against Wilkes.
The River Hawks played an extremely competitive schedule, starting the season with a trip to Franklin and Marshall. Following the F & M game, SUFH continued their road trip, defeating Alvernia University, before heading to nationally ranked Swarthmore College. The River Hawks returned home to face off against Dickinson College, before defeating Washington College (Md.) at home. SU left for Bryn Mawr, with #19 University of Lynchburg scheduled next. An assistant coach homecoming against King's College (Pa.) saw SU earn the second highest goal scoring rout in the Fordyce era. Two more road games were slated next for SUFH, with the River Hawks taking on the University of Scranton, followed by a win over Marywood University. Campitelli helped the River Hawks defeat Elizabethtown at home, with Campitelli earning the game winning goal at the buzzer for SU. The River Hawks left for the road, defeating the Colonels of Wilkes University, before heading home for a weekend filled with games. SU defeated Drew University, welcoming #24 SUNY Geneseo the next day. With three home games and two roads games remaining, SU went into the playoffs on a five game win streak, defeating Juniata, Moravian, Catholic, Lycoming, and Goucher to round out the regular season and clinch the two seed in the Landmark Conference playoffs.
