Brandon Zimmerman enjoyed solid performances in his final three events Saturday to score Second Team All-American in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. He secured an 8.28 time for third in the morning's 60-meter hurdles, then cleared his way to 3.30m in the pole vault. The evening made way for the 1,000 meters, where Zimmerman capped his weekend with a PR time of 2:54.18, the tenth-fastest time in the event.
The Danville, Pa. native finished with 4,927 points, good for tenth place, as the winner Jacob Balcome of Wisconsin-Stout captured 5,304 points, a 146-point difference from the second-place finisher Luke Freimanis of Carnegie Mellon. Zimmerman makes it 4-for-4 this weekend for Susquehanna track and field in getting Second Team All-Americans, as
Elliott Davis finished ninth in the 400 meters, Hannah Alderfer tenth in the pentathlon, and Chloe Yoder 11th in the 60-meter hurdles.
Zimmerman and the rest of the Susquehanna squad have a brief pause before opening its outdoor track and field season at home for the Jim Taylor Duals, running Saturday, Mar. 29, with the throws reserved for Friday, Mar. 28 at Doug Arthur Stadium.
