SELINSGROVE, PA - The Susquehanna University women's track and field team opened their spring season with tremendous success this weekend with historic proportions. They played host to their annual Jim Taylor Invitationals, which this year paid tribute to the meet's namesake Jim Taylor, the longtime SU track and field head coach who passed away in January. In remembrance of Coach Taylor and his dual meet success, the meet was rechristened the Jim Taylor Duals, in addition to it being Senior Day for many notable River Hawks who helped usher in the team's recent success.
The seniors' historic run carried on this weekend as many notable marks were set, including hurdler
Chloe Yoder posting the fastest 100-meter hurdles time in NCAA Division III when she timed in at 14.05, while fellow upperclassman Hannah Alder raced to a fourth-place time of 15.03. At mid-day Saturday head coach
Ethan Senecal and the program recognized the program's gifted senior class that included Yoder,

The meet actually began Friday, beginning with the shot put and hammer throw. Sophomore
Bella Dauberman threw 10.19 meters in tenth place in the shot put. Sophomore
Keira Carbone threw a distance of 10.05 meters. Sophomores
Abigail Haskell and
Emma Szabo threw 9.42 meters and 9.24 meters, respectively. Juniors
Rebecca Cree and
Paulina Biagioni threw 9.18 meters and 9.08 meters. Junior
Ainslee Binkley threw a distance of 8.76 meters. First-year
Ava Lathers PR'd with 7.77 meters. Senior
Chelsea Veith threw 6.36 meters. In the hammer throw, Szabo threw a PR of 37.57 meters in seventh place while Carbone threw 37.13 meters in eighth place. Sophomore
Catherine Sirignano threw 35.71 meters. Cree threw a PR of 35.22 meters while Haskell threw her PR of 34.74 meters. Dauberman threw a distance of 33.89 meters while Biagioni threw 33.35 meters. Senior Sam Shafer threw a PR of 33.13 meters. Lathers PR'd with a throw of 28.64 meters. Veith threw 24.90 meters.
During Saturday's first event, the 10K, the women's team swept first through third. Sophomore
Sophia Bostwick was in first with 41:20.00, senior
Rebekah Jones with 42:01.62, and first-year
Ava Warner with 42:08.95. In fifth place, senior
Sophia Pasquariello had 43:44.77, and senior
Jordan Bender had 43:48.35 in sixth. In the steeple chase, sophomore
EmmaLia Ciccarello ran 13:48.03 in seventh place. In the 1500-meter, sophomore
Gabby Howe PR'd with 5:25.49.
In the 100-meters, junior
Ashley Newman in ninth place ran a PR of 12.85. Senior
Addison Yaukey PR'd with 12.89. During the 800-meter, sophomore
Victoria Urbaez ran 2:24.70 in third place, while senior
Liza Levin ran 2:25.36 in fourth place. Yoder in sixth place ran 26.08 in the 200-meter. Newman in eighth place ran 26.48. First-year
Megan McDougall PR'd with 28.73. In the 4x400 relay, Alderfer, Newman, sophomore Denica German, and Levin placed third with a collective time of 4:09.35.
Out in the field, senior Sam Shafer took ninth place with 32.25 meters in Discus. Junior
Paulina Biagioni PR'd with 29.56, while sophomore
Abigail Haskell PR'd with 24.84 meters. Senior
Chelsea Veith PR'd with 21.78 meters. In Javelin, junior
Ainslee Binkley placed sixth with 35.58 meters. Sophomore
Bella Dauberman threw her PR of 33.02 meters, placing in ninth. Sophomore
Keira Carbone also threw her PR of 29.94 meters.
In Long Jump, Alderfer tied for second with 5.66 meters. Sophomore
Charlotte Houle tied for fifth place in High Jump with 1.48 meters. In Pole Vault, sophomore Alision Sponseller tied for fifth with 2.90 meters. Bostwick with 2.75 meters placed in eighth.
The women's next meet takes them to Ursinus for the Track and Field Festival April 4-5.
