ABBOTSTOWN, PA - The Susquehanna University men's golf team finished 15th as a team this weekend at the two-day McDaniel College Invitational at the par-72, 6,713-yard The Bridges Golf Club. The River Hawks finished with a 658 combined score after shooting a 331 Saturday, then improving by four strokes with a 327 Sunday.
Jonathan Spohn again turned in a team-leading performance, improving upon his 80 outing on Saturday with a 77 on Sunday for a 157 total (+13).
Charlie Betz scored an 83 Sunday to follow up his 81 outing on Saturday for a 164 total. (+20).
Eli Mumau carded an 86 Saturday, then had a four-stroke improvement on day two with an 82 for a 168 (+24).
David Birmingham proved consistent over the weekend, pairing his 84 score Saturday with an 85 Sunday for a 169 (+25).
Patrick Bova began with an 89 on Saturday, then shot a 93 Sunday for a 182 (+38).
The competition was formidable as a less-windy Sunday offered up two teams shooting below 300 combined in Gettysburg with a 293 and Franklin & Marshall at 296. Gettysburg took first with a 601 score as their own Daniel Suter carded 73's both days to medal. In all 17 teams competed over the weekend, boasting 90 competitors.Â
Susquehanna has just three more events prior to the Landmark Championships, beginning with their Alumni and Friends Golf Outing Saturday, April 12, followed by the Stevenson Spring Invitational Monday, April 14 and their own Susquehanna Spring Invitational Thursday, April 17.Â
