ITHACA, NY - Day two of the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships brought a similar spark for the Susquehanna men's track and field team than day one on Friday. The Saturday portion brought a satifying conclusion to the heptathlon, while ending with another pivotal mark for the 4x200 team.
Junior
Rowan Smith went back to work in the heptathlon sealing up fifth place with 4,499 points, good for fourth all-time in school annals. He got there after opening his day in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.71, good for third in the event. He then cleared 3.30 meters in the pole vault for the 10th-best mark, then capped the day with a new PR in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:00.73.
Senior
Brandon Zimmerman took his position in the 60-meter hurdles finals, running a time of 8.34 to place fifth. Sophomore
Mason Winslow ran 50.22 in the 400 meters, while in the triple jump
Jackson Mabry jumped 13.13 meters. Sophomore
Dominic Santos kept up the intensity in the 200 meters, running a time of 22.71. Winslow and Santos joined
Austin Hurrell and
Aidan Diglio to wrap the meet in the 4x200, clocking in the fourth-best time at 1:30.12, good for third all-time in program history.
Selections for next weekend's NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships will be announced Sunday evening. While the sun sets on another Landmark Conference indoor championship season for the River Hawks, outdoors is just around the corner as Susquehanna prepares to host the Jim Taylor Invitational Saturday, Mar. 29, with the throws set for Friday, Mar. 28.
