SELINSGROVE, PA - The Susquehanna women's track and field team turned in an interesting Saturday, staying local as the River Hawks turned to the field events at home hosting the River hawk Multi, while runners
Victoria Urbaez and
Liza Levin went down the road to the Bucknell Bison Invitational to run the 800 meters.
Over in Lewisburg the two runners ran the 12th heat, with Urbaez finishing first in the heat at 2:21.21 and Levin right behind her at 2:21.38.
In Selinsgrove, meanwhile, Susquehanna's throwers, pole vaulters, and jumpers opened at 10:30 a.m. for their home field meet, beginning with the hammer throw.
Catherine Sirignano led the lead and ranked second among all throwers when her third attempt landed at 38.42m.
Emma Szabo ranked third at 38.38m, while it was a River Hawks sweep being spots five and ten between
Bella Dauberman (37.92m),
Keira Carbone (36.03m), Sam Shafer (34.15m),
Abigail Haskell (33.72m),
Rebecca Cree (32.99m), and
Paulina Biagioni (32.91m).
Ava Lathers threw 30.04m, while
Chelsea Veith threw 22.89m.
Next came the discus, with another loaded bunch for Susquehanna competing. Sirignano again took second with her throw of 32.87m. Biagioni finished fourth at 32.32, while Shafer was fifth at 30.27m. Cree was seventh at 29.85m. Susquehanna took spots nine through 13 in Daubmerman (27.99m), Carbone (25.20m), Lathers (23.45m), Haskell (22.65m), and Veith (20.64m).
In the shot put another dense group took to the circle for Susquehanna, with the lineup as follows: Carbone (10.55m), Dauberman (10.07m), Biagioni (9.90m), Haskell (9.76m), Binkley (9.70m), Shafer (9.14m), Sirignano (9.02m), Cree (8.85m), Szabo (8.61m), Lathers (8.56m), and Veith (6.37m).
In Estill Field House
Sarah Bower took flight in the pole vault, clearing a team-best 3.25m. Allison Sponseller cleared 2.80m and
Kate Steinhart 2.20m. In the long jump Addison Yauker jumped 5.12m, while
Denicia German landed at 4.47m.
The day wrapped up with the javelin as Binkley took the top mark at 37.49m on her fifth try. Dauberman placed second when her final throw landed at 34.92m, while Carbone was fourth at 31.39m and Biagioni fifth at 27.22m.
The River Hawks head down the road to York College of Pennsylvania this Wednesday for their midweek Twilight Meet.
