SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna University men's track and field continued their powerful spring with an impressive eight-day stretch of competitions and records to help them obtain a number-seven ranking by the USTFCCCA. Records continued to fall as the River Hawks competed in their own multi two weeks ago, as well as a stop over at Bucknell and last Friday's Moravian Coach Pollard Invitational. Furthermore, the River Hawks were ranked number one in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the same poll, collecting a staggering 722.45 points, just over a 57-point difference from two-ranked Johns Hopkins.
The highlight of the Moravian meet was the 4x100 team of
Mason Winslow,
Brandon Zimmerman,
Dominic Santos, and
Austin Hurrell setting a new Landmark, facility, and school record with a time of 40.74, currently the third-fastest in NCAA Division III.
Elliott Davis rewrote his own 400 league record with a time of 47.34. Senior
Benjamin Bulger was named the Landmark Conference's Track Athlete of the Week after last year's national qualifier in the 400-meter hurdles set a new PR in the event at Moravian with a time of 52.39, currently the third-fastest time in the country. He also was on the winning 4x400 relay team with
Mason Winslow,
Henry Notarfrancesco, and
Aidan Diglio that ran a time of 3:18.40.
Susquehanna continued to shine as they hosted their own River Hawk Multi. Zimmerman set a new school record in the decathlon with 6,434 points. He set new PRs in the shot put (10.51m), 400 meters (49.31), and 110-meter hurdles (14.88), along with earning the top time in the 100 meters at 10.67 and ranking second in the long jump at 6.95m. At Moravian Zimmerman also set a new PR in the 200 meters with a time of 21.43. That Sunday the team headed over to Bucknell for the Bison Invitational and where Calder
El Bachir Diakite set a new school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.30, currently 11th-fastest in the country. Fellow hurdler
Carter Smink kept in step with his 110H time of 14.76, currently 41st in Division III.
Coming up the River Hawks have a handful of competitors set to go to the prestigious Penn Relays on Thursday, followed by a visit to King's College of Pa. on Friday. These events mark the final regular-season events before Susquehanna prepares to host the Landmark Outdoor Track & Field Championships from Saturday, May 3 to Sunday, May 4 at Doug Arthur Stadium.
