SELINSGROVE, PA - Emma Campitelli's second-quarter goal off a penalty corner offered the Susquehanna University field hockey team a 1-0 lead at halftime against Dickinson. The Red Devils got on the board near the middle of the third quarter, then took a hold of the game near the end of the third with what would be the game-winning goal in a 2-1 decision. Dickinson kept up its hot start at 4-0, while Susquehanna dropped to 1-3 in the early, non-conference part of its season.
How it Happened
- Susquehanna's penalty corner in the second quarter proved fruitful. With Hannah Garlin inserting, she sent it to Gracie Roush at the top of the box, who fed it to Emma Campitelli and sniped a shot to the far post to give the River Hawks a 1-0 lead with 4:46 left in the second.
- Dickinson tied the game with a penalty corner chance of its own with 9:10 left in the third. The ball went up top off the insert, then then after some passing by the semicircle, Natalie Slusser backhanded a pass to Erin Liggio, who dribbled one that deflected off a River Hawk stick and in the back of the cage with 9:00 showing on the clock.Â
- Later in the third the Red Devils broke through as the ball came into the box right at the stick of Gillian Rosenstock. She put one on line up towards Nicole Uebele, who got a great bounce to drill the ball past goalie Taytum Lombardi to take the lead at 2-1 with 1:08 to go in the third.
