SELINSGROVE, PA - The Landmark Conference awarded senior libero and defensive specialist
Jessica Sack as its Defensive Player of the Week. She combined for 49 digs during the River Hawks' Saturday doubleheader against Eastern and Immaculata, including a season-high 34 digs in the team's four-set win over Immaculata.
As highlighted Sacks' defensive worked helped guide Susquehanna to the 3-1 win over the Mighty Macs. She also rang up two service aces and a pair of assists. Immaculata shot well for the game, totaling 50 kills and a .170 attack percentage with just 23 assists, bolstered by Mia Esposito's 16 kills to lead IU. Sack's ability to extend rallies paid dividends as the River Hawks countered with 54 total kills and a .205 attack percentage with just 20 errors. Sack's two aces shed light on another key factor in the team's win as they delivered 15 service aces, led by five from
Elliott Schleicher and four from
Kyndall Mason. Sack's big day puts the senior ninth all-time at SU in career digs with 1,284, while her 34 digs is just five off from her previous career high of 39 set during her rookie season in 2022 against Scranton.
Sack and the River Hawks prepare to wage battle with Gettysburg at home on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. This Saturday the team heads to King's College of Pa. for their tournament, playing the host Monarchs and Widener University.Â
