SELINSGROVE, PA - On Senior Day, Susquehanna women's soccer turned in a stellar performance to collect their first win of 2025, beating Delaware Valley 4-0 as
Audrey Miller scored her first two collegiate goals, providing an assist as well.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- By the time five minutes had passed, Ava Billmeyer had already taken the game's first three shots, one of which was on target and saved.
- Morgan Stickley and Billmeyer each had good opportunities to score but were denied by Delaware Valley goalkeeper Nicole Ocejo. Stickley's came from a chance where she was played in behind and attempted to chip the goalkeeper, but Ocejo turned the effort onto the post and away.
- Miller entered the game in the 19th minute, and scored in the 20th minute, when Emma Eberle's lofted through pass picked her out, and the first-year made no mistake in slotting in her first career goal.
- Less than two minutes later, the ball was in the back of the net for a second time off the foot of Miller. She controlled a free-kick delivered into the penalty area by Chloe Michaels, and fired her second touch into the bottom left corner to add to her tally.
- In the 25th minute, Kalie Quaglia headed goalwards from a Shelby Vernon cross, but put her effort onto the right post, and Hannah Parslow's follow-up effort was saved by Ocejo.
- Gigi Duncan took the first two shots of the second half, finding the target with both and forcing an additional two saves. Billmeyer followed Duncan with three of her own.
- The next chance also came from Billmeyer when Miller was played in by Quaglia's incisive through ball, and played the unselfish square ball to Billmeyer, who dispatched the chance to add a third.
- The win was capped off in the 77th minute, when the team turned to Brynn Bogle for her collegiate debut ahead of a Susquehanna corner. Marchessault delivered the corner, and after a touch off an Aggie defender, Bogle put her first collegiate touch in the back of the net.
- Delaware Valley threatened to spoil the shutout with a free-kick that was watched wide by Alexis Nussbaumer.
- Prior to the game, the River Hawks honored their seven seniors, Sydney Williams, Caitlyn Sanchez, Rachel Rinehart, Quaglia, Liliana Shutt, Stickley, and Eberle.
