Men Suffer Midweek Road Defeat at Catholic

Box Score WASHINGTON, DC – Susquehanna men's basketball fell on the road to 23rd-ranked Catholic University on Wednesday night, with the Cardinals setting the pace from the start to take an 18-point lead into halftime and eventually coming out on top, 80-69.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED  
  • The Cardinals started the game red-hot, opening the first five minutes with a 15–2 run. Junior Googie Seidman scored eight of those 15 points, six coming from three-pointers.
  •  Senior Brandon Lavitt scored five points in the first half as Susquehanna went back and forth with the Catholic offense.
  • Despite a valiant effort, the River Hawks went into halftime trailing 39–31. Lavitt led all scorers alongside three River Hawks who each scored four points: KJ Carson, Emezie Egeonu, and Billy Anderson.
  • The River Hawks cut the lead to 11 after outscoring Catholic by four points over the first ten minutes of the second half. Lavitt led the way with seven of the team's 22 points during that stretch.
  • Catholic maintained control for the remainder of the game, led by 14 points from Brian Herbert in the final ten minutes.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • First-year KJ Carson led the River Hawks with 16 points on 66.7% shooting from the field, with six of those points coming from beyond the arc.
  • Catholic outshot Susquehanna from the field, 49%–45%, while being outshot by the River Hawks from beyond the arc, 44.4%–38.9%. The key to the Cardinals' win came on the glass and from the free-throw line, where they secured ten more rebounds than the River Hawks and made 16 more free throws.
  • Senior Emezie Egeonu posted near double-double numbers, scoring ten points and adding eight rebounds.
  • Lavitt led Susquehanna with four assists and scored 15 points on an efficient 6-of-12 shooting from the field.
  • Thirteen River Hawks logged minutes, with eight playing at least ten minutes.
UP NEXT FOR THE RIVER HAWKS  
  • Susquehanna will look to snap its two-game losing skid in Madison, NJ, on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. when it takes on Drew University before returning to Selinsgrove for a two-game home stretch.
  • The River Hawks remain above .500 both overall and in conference play, sitting at 8–6 overall with a 4–3 Landmark Conference record.
