SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna's
Cole Goodwin and Calder
El Bachir Diakite swept the Landmark Conference's weekly awards for the second time this season in track and field. After accomplishing this feat already back in December, Goodwin and Diakite continued their climb this weekend at Ithaca College's Bomber Invitational.
Goodwin won the Landmark's Field Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this winter with another solid performance in the weight throw and shot put, throwing for over 15 meters in both. While he has been known to throw the shot put ball far, coming in second Saturday at 15.39m, he bested that in the weight throw where he unleashed a new personal best of 15.43m, which stands as the seventh best mark in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region.
Diakite kept up his great work in the 60-meter hurdles. After running the fastest preliminary time of 8.43, he exploded with an 8.31 time in the finals for first place and separating himself from the rest of the pack by .24 seconds. He went on to run the 4x400 with
Aidan Diglio,
Henry Notarfrancesco and
Mason Winslow to close out the day with an AARTFC-qualifying time of 3:25.25, good for third overall in a competitive field at Ithaca.
The River Hawks return home this Friday for the Friday Night Showdown Feb. 6. The following weekend they'll be split between the Nazareth Division III Elite Meet and hosting their Valentine's Invite.
