SELINSGROVE, PA - It was a week of good news for Susquehanna women's lacrosse senior goalie
Aerin O'Brien, who celebrated her milestone week earning Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
She allowed a combined eight goals in the River Hawks' two wins over Alvernia and Elizabethtown by respective 12-2 and 16-6 scores. In the Landmark opener with the Blue Jays she recorded 15 saves en route to the win, enough to put her over the 500 career saves mark in an orange and maroon uniform. She becomes the fourth Susquehanna goalie ever to reach 500 career saves and ranks fourth all-time currently with 506. Against the Golden Wolves O'Brien recorded eight saves, shutting out Alvernia for the final 50-plus minutes after the score read 2-2 with just under six minutes left in the first quarter.Â
O'Brien and the River Hawks delve into their Landmark Conference season from here on out, beginning with a home evening meeting against Wilkes Wednesday at 5 p.m. They then go to Lycoming this Saturday at 1 p.m.
