SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Susquehanna University women's soccer goalkeeper Katie Henchy has been named the Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week following a pair of strong performances in goal that helped the River Hawks remain unbeaten to open the 2026 season.

Henchy anchored the Susquehanna defense in wins over Penn State Harrisburg and DeSales, making nine saves across the two matches while allowing just one goal. Her efforts helped the River Hawks improve to 4-0 on the season, marking the best start in program history.

Against Penn State Harrisburg on Sept. 9, Henchy made five saves as Susquehanna earned a 4-1 victory over the Lions. The junior goalkeeper turned aside several early opportunities and helped the River Hawks maintain control throughout the contest.

Henchy followed that performance with a four-save shutout against DeSales on Sept. 12. The River Hawks defeated the Bulldogs 2-0, with Henchy stopping all four shots she faced to record her second shutout of the season. Susquehanna limited DeSales to just four shots on goal while posting a 10-4 advantage in shots on target.

The two performances continued a strong stretch for Henchy, who was an All-Landmark First Team selection in 2025 after finishing the season with 93 saves and eight shutouts.

Henchy and the River Hawks will look to continue their historic start Monday, Sept. 14, when Susquehanna welcomes Misericordia University to Sassafras Multipurpose Field for a 7 p.m. contest. The match is a continuation of the teams' Sept. 1 meeting, which was suspended due to weather. They then have two road matches later this week, beginning at Muhlenberg Wednesday and Notre Dame College of Md. Friday evening.
