Summary

Biography

Hank DePerro, a native of Buffalo, NY, graduated in 1970 with a degree in Sociology. He earned six letters in athletics, including two in baseball as a starting third basemen and catcher and he was a four year starter and outstanding lineman and linebacker in football.  He played every down his freshman year as a defensive lineman and finished the season third in tackles.  As a sophomore, Hank was a starting guard on the offensive unit before moving to linebacker during his junior and senior seasons.  As a junior, Hank led the team in tackles with 93, 53 of which were solo and was named the most valuable player.  As a captain in his senior year, he helped lead The Crusaders to a 6-3 record and a second place finish in the Middle Atlantic Conference.  He earned ECAC Team of the Week honors five times during his junior and senior seasons.  He played under head coach Jim Hazlett, and legendary assistant coach Bob Pittello.
 
Hank was inducted into the SU Sports Hall of Fame in 2002, and his high school, The Nichols School, Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.  In 2022, Hank was selected to serve as honorary captain for the Ursinus game.
 
Hank spent most of his business career in corporate facilities management starting at Equitable Life Assurance and subsequently as a vice President of facilities for The Bank of New York and Barclays Bank of NY.  During the last 20 years of his career, Hank was the Director of Facilities Management for the Ford Foundation in NYC before retiring in 2013.
 
Hank and his wife, Barbara, a 1969 graduate, have been longtime supporters of the University, the Artist Series and the athletic programs. Hank and Barbara's daughter, Amy, and her husband, Sean Oakes, are graduates of SU as is their granddaughter, Molly Schelle.
