Arbogast Named Landmark Field Athlete of the Year, Women’s Indoor Track & Field Takes Second at Landmark Championships

Sara Arbogast '21 - 2020 Landmark Field Athlete of the Year
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Junior Sara Arbogast (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) picked up her third career major Landmark Conference award as Arbogast was named the Landmark Women's Field Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of the 2020 Landmark Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships at the James W. Garrett Sports Complex Field House.
 
The Susquehanna University women's indoor track & field team finished second for the first time since 2016 with 110 points. Moravian College grabbed its 12th Landmark title with 201 points while University of Scranton (77) came in third followed by Elizabethtown College (75) in fourth, Juniata College (27) in fifth, The Catholic University of America (20) in sixth, and Goucher College (17) in seventh.
 
The River Hawks had six athletes earn seven All-Landmark awards with Arbogast leading the way with a pair of First Team selections. She also paced the team by contributing 28 points to SU's second-place finish.
 
How It Happened
  • Arbogast was voted the Landmark Field Athlete of the Year after claiming top billing in the long jump with a PR of 5.44m while taking top honors in the triple jump with a mark of 10.98m. She is now a two-time defending Landmark champion in both events.
  • Arbogast posted a fourth-place finish in the 60m dash as well in 8.14.
  • Junior Kristen Blair (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) also picked up All-Landmark First Team honors with a first-place finish in the weight throw with a PR throw of 13.17m. This is Blair's first-ever all-conference award.
  • Senior Samantha Reed (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) garnered an All-Landmark Second Team award with a second-place finish in the 400m dash with a PR of 1:01.24. This is Reed's fourth All-Landmark honor in indoor competition. She also placed third in the 200m dash in 27.29.
  • Junior Kate Ross (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) earned All-Landmark Second Team honors in the 800m run with a second-place finish in 2:23.53. Ross notched a third-place finish in the mile run with a PR of 5:19.43 while coming in ninth in the 3,000m run with a PR of 10:58.30.
  • Sophomore Abigail Sholders (National Park, N.J./Gateway Regional) joined Blair in earning her first-ever all-conference honor in the weight throw as Sholders came in second with a PR throw of 13.00m for a Second Team award.
  • Sophomore Megan Emlet (Shippensburg, Pa./Big Spring) also registered her first indoor all-league honor with her second-place finish in the long jump with a PR jump of 5.19m.
  • Junior Ryleigh Edmonds (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown Area) took third in the pole vault with a vault of 3.04m while senior Maya Khanna (Shamokin, Pa./Lourdes) posted a PR of 10.44m for third in the triple jump.
  • The distance medley relay of senior Alexa Pietrini (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug), first-year Sarah Urban (Victor, N.Y./Victor Central), sophomore Anastasia Farley (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk), and senior Emily Eck (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) finished third in 13:46.55.
  • Sophomore Jenna Juntunen (Hazlet Township, N.J./Raritan) joined Blair and Sholders on the podium with a fourth-place finish in the weight throw with a PR throw of 12.50m. Juntunen led the River Hawks in the shot put with a PR of 9.79m for fifth place.
  • Ross, Arbogast, Pietrini, and Reed clocked a 4:15.13 for fourth in the 4x400m relay while Urban, senior Morgan Markle (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood), first-year Brooke Leitzel (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Township), and first-year Lizabeth Fessler (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) ran a 1:55.67 for fifth in the 4x200m relay.
  • Senior Erin Reese (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) placed fifth in the 5,000m run in 19:00.11 while Fessler finished seventh in the 60m hurdles in 10.10, missing the finals by 0.01 seconds.
  • Emlet paced SU in the high jump with a seventh-place finish with a PR of 1.42m followed by sophomores Amy Fisher (Linden, Pa./Williamsport Area) and Fiona Blake (Stockholm, N.J./Wallkill Valley) in ninth and 10th, respectively, as both tallied a jump of 1.32m.
