SELINSGROVE, PA (December 10, 2022) -- Sophomores
Alayna Krempa and
Sarah Bower each earned individual wins to highlight the second and final day of action in Garret Sports Complex FIeld House at the Susquehanna University Early Season Multi and Invitational Saturday.
Krempa raced in the first second of runners and earned the victory in the 60 meter hurdles, as she posted a personal-best time of 10.05. Bower had great day in the pole vault, earning the victory after clearing 2.90 meters on her first attempt.
The pole vault was a strong event for SU, as senior
Brooke Leitzel cleared 2.60 and 2.75 meters on her first try to finish third overall. First-year
Katie Cammarata was also in the top six with a cleared mark of 2.30 meters.
Sophomore
Remi Acord had another solid weekend for the River Hawks, as Acord took third overall with a mark of 5.10 meters in the long jump. Fellow sophomore
Hannah Alderfer was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 4.96 meters. In the triple jump, Acord finished second after bounding to a mark of 10.47 meters on the first attempt of the day.
In the 60 meter dash, junior
Alexa Rine earned sixth place with a time of 8.12 while also taking fourth place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.35. Krempa was sixth in the 200 after clocking in with a 28.38, and first-year
Ashley Newman logged a time of 28.64 for seventh place.
Addison Yaukey was also eighth after running a 28.66.
Junior
Caitlyn Kuhn was SU's only competitor in the 400 meters and took ninth after crossing the finish line in 1:06.79. Sophomore Gabby Feliciano also ran a personal-best time of 2:56.29 in the 800 meter run for eighth place Saturday.
Susquehanna won the spring medley relay, as Newman,
Kelly Loughlin, Yaukey and
Liza Levin raced to a time of 4:36.36. Senior
Jenna Horning was sixth in the high jump after clearing 1.42 meters on her first attempt.
In the shot put,
Paulina Biagioni was the leading competitor for Susquehanna with a throw of 9.20 meters on her second of six attempts for fifth place. First-year
Sarah Joy was right behind her in sixth place after making finals and posting a distance of 8.64 meters on her first throw of the day.
Junior
Delaynee McLeod finished fourth to lead the River Hawks in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 11.10 meters, and Biagioni also recorded a collegiate-best distance of 10.46 meters for fifth place. Joy was seventh with a mark of 8.67 meters, and first-year
Rebecca Cree was eighth overall with a toss of 8.33 meters.
Susquehanna is off for the rest of 2022 before getting back to action January 14 at home in the River Hawk Invitational in Garret Sports Complex.
