SELINSGROVE, PA (January 14, 2023) -- The Susquehanna University women's track and field squad hosted the River Hawk Invitational today in Garrett Sports Complex. The day was highlighted by individual victories by senior
Kallan Carter and sophomore
Sarah Bower.
Carter picked up her victory in the mile run, clocking in with a time of 5:17.70. Teammate
Emma Myers was right behind her in sixth place, as she cruised over the finish line with a time of 5:32.08. The other win for SU came in the pole vault, as Bower cleared both 2.90 and 3.05 meters on her first attempt before finishing out at 3.20 meters. First-year
Katie Cammarata was fourth in the event as well with a height of 2.30 meters.
Junior
Chloe Yoder had a strong afternoon as well in the 60 meter dash, running an 8.17 in the preliminaries before taking third in the finals with a personal-best time of 8.15. First-year
Ashley Newman chalked up a personal-best time of 8.47 in the 60 meters, and then came back to finish second in the 400 meters after running a 1:04.87.
Junior
Caitlyn Kuhn was fourth in the 400 meters after running a 1:05.85, while
Liza Levin earned runner-up honors with a personal-best time of 2:31.07 in the 800 meters. In the 3000 meters, first-year Griane Reed raced to a sixth-place finish with a time of 11:30.00, while sophomore
Rebekah Jones was seventh after crossing the line with 11:38.63.
Sophomore
Remi Acord earned second place in the long jump after recording a mark of 5.18 meters, and classmate
Hannah Alderfer was fourth overall after posting a mark of 5.11 meters on her fourth attempt.
Susquehanna is back in action next Friday evening at the Ramapo Invitational in New York, NY at The Armory.
