SELINSGROVE, PA (February 10, 2023) – The River Hawk women's track and field team had a strong showing on Friday night, placing second out of ten competing teams.
The 4x200 meter relay team of Ashley Newman, Alayna Krempa, Alexa Rine, and Chloe Yoder set a new school record while winning the event with their time of 1:47.14.
Rine also earned a place in the program record books with her 60 meter dash of 7.96 seconds, which ties her for second in program history.
The pair of sophomore jumpers in Hannah Alderfer and Remi Acord both had strong performances, with Alderfer jumping 5.44 meters in the long jump, tying the second-best jump in program history and currently ranked 32nd in the country. Acord jumped a season best in the triple jump at 11.30 meters, ranked 33rd in the country.
Numerous other River Hawks hit personal bests on the day across a variety of events. Julia Acevedo placed 7th in the triple jump with a mark of 10.39 meters. Jenna Horning tied for third place in the high jump with a mark of 1.47 meters. First-year runners Kylie Dixon and Katrina Hook set personal bests in the 3000 meters and mile run, respectively. Caitlyn Kuhn set personal bests in both the 60 and 200 meters. In the shot put, Delaynee McLeod and Ainslee Binckley both set personal bests, while Sam Shafer set a new best in the weight throw. Griane Reed and Sophia Pasquariello finished 17th and 18th in the mile, both setting personal bests. Finally, Chloe Yoder ran 8.09 seconds in the 60 meters, a personal best for her.
The team will get to compete at home again in a week's time, as they'll host the SU Tune Up here in Selinsgrove, their final meet before the Landmark Conference Indoor Championships on February 25th and 26th, which Susquehanna will also be hosting.
