River Hawk Women's Track & Field Strong At Bomber Invitational

ITHACA, NY (February 4, 2023) -- The Susquehanna University women's indoor track and field team had a monster day at the 2023 Bomber Invitational, hosted by Ithaca College inside its Athletics & Events Center. 

The highlights started in the 60 meter finals, as the River Hawks went 1-2 in the event led by junior Alexa Rine ran a 7.97 in the finals to break eight seconds for the first time in her career and earn the win. Teammate Alayna Krempa ran a 7.96 in prelims, the second-best time in program history, and finished second in the 60 finals after running the 400 meters just minutes prior. 

Sophomore Addison Yaukey also ran a season-best time in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.31 seconds. First-year Ashley Newman was 12th overall with a new season-best time of 8.31 seconds, while Kelly Loughlin also recorded a new season-best time of 8.35 seconds. 

In the 200 meter dash, Rine was eighth overall with a new top time this year of 27.53. In the 400 meter dash, sophomore Liza Levin took second place after running to a 1:02.07, while Caitlyn Kuhn also ran a 1:05.63 for a new season-best time. 

Senior Kallan Carter had a strong day as she finished third overall in the mile, running a 5:16.40, another season-best time. Carter would also take fourth place in the 3000 meters, running a new seasonal-best time of 10:42.92. 

One of the best times of the day came in the 60 hurdles, as Chloe Yoder broke her own school record with a time of 8.89 to win the event after posting an 8.93 in prelims. Yoder's time is also the Landmark Conference record, besting her previous conference-best mark, while she ranks 12th nationally. 

Sophomore Remi Acord took third place in the long jump, recording a 5.32 meter jump on her sixth and final leap of the afternoon. Acord would also shine in the triple jump, coming in second place with a mark of 11.16 meters on her fifth attempt. 

Junior Maggie Boyer also finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 11.50 meter toss. Paulina Biagioni finished with a new season-best mark of 9.75 meters for 17th place. 

The River Hawks will finish action at the Bomber Invitational Sunday morning in Ithaca, NY.
